In Uttarakhand, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is striving to rebuild the roads in flood affected areas. BRO is continuing with its efforts of opening the road network in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. BRO has pressed in to service about 130 excavators and bulldozers. Despite bad weather BRO has kept open both the main axis i.e. Rishikesh to Uttarkashi and Rishikesh - Joshimath – Govindghat in Uttarakhand.

Rs 100 cr special grant to U’khand to rebuild tourism infra
To rebuild tourism infrastructure in Uttarakhand, in the aftermath of the recent devastation of floods in the state, the Union government has sanctioned a special financial package of Rs 100 crore. With the sum is meant for restoration and reconstruction of the affected Government tourist facilities in Uttarakhand. Rebuilding highways in U’khand may take 3-4 months
In Uttarakhand, it will take at least 3-4 months to rebuild highways damaged by the recent floods. All national and state highways in the Garhwal region have been damaged with road-owing agencies reporting at least 100 stretches impacted by landslides, breaches or submergence. Several bailey bridges and steel girder bridges have also been washed away.
