Air India has got Rs 800 crore from the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. It is the first tranche of the sum assured to Air India this financial year as part of the turnaround plan to infuse equity for the revival of the cash-strapped national carrier. The government reviewed the performance of the airline and is satisfied with the feedback it has received, an official concerned said.

Govt to collect cess to fund remote connectivity
A cess of Rs 40-50 per departing domestic passenger may be levied by the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to part-fund connectivity to remote towns and cities soon. The Ministry is actively considering doing away with the present route dispersal guidelines, which require scheduled airlines to deploy at least 10 per cent capacity on routes which are otherwise not lucrative and connect remote areas, smaller towns and cities.
Aranmula airport project gets nod from Centre
In Kerala, the private sector KGS Aranmula International Airport has received the crucial ‘in-principle approval’ of the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. The approval is effective from September 4, 2012. PT Nandakumar, Executive Director of the airport company, said that this is the final clearance granted by the steering committee of the Ministry chaired by Secretary, Civil Aviation.
ADF in Mumbai, Delhi to stay at lower sum
The Union government is now plans to lower the airport development fees by spreading it over a longer tenure. The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation had on October 16 asked the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to infuse more equity into Delhi and Mumbai airports so that the Airport Development Fee (ADF) that is charged from passengers flying into these airports can be scrapped from January 1.
