New Dredging Corp. chairman takes charge
K Rama Mohana Rao has taken charge as Director & Chairman of Dredging Corp. of India Ltd (DCIL). This is in addition to his present post of Chairman, Visakhapatnam Port Trust.

In order to handle Panamax vessels in the Inner Harbour, Visakhapatnam Port has decided to add two more hi-tech 100-tonne harbour mobile cranes costing around Rs 35 crore each .
Cargo traffic at major ports up by 5.04% in April-December
Cargo traffic rose by 5.04 per cent to 433.86 mt at 12 major ports during April-December 2014 as compared to the same period of previous year. These Centre-run ports had handled 413.06 mt of cargo during April-December 2013.

Essar Ports to invest in Vizag port
For development and operation of three iron ore berths at Visakhapatnam Port, the Essar Vizag Terminals has entered into an agreement with the Visakhapatnam Port Trust. It is to invest Rs 1,200 crore in the project and to be developed on a build-own-operate basis over 30 years. With a combined capacity of 23 million tonne the three berths (two outer harbour berths and one inner) will have a combined capacity of 23 million tonne per year.
