Yet again in the power sector, Telangana sets a record for the highest ever power demand of 10,429 MW, surpassing its earlier demand of 10,284 MW in March, 2018. Due to a continuous power supply to agriculture, domestic and industrial sectors, the power demand has been on the rise. As compared to the per capita consumption of the country which is 1,122 units, TelanganaÂ’s per capita consumption is 1,507 units which is much higher. However, this Kharif season, the demand is expected to touch 11,500 MW and the DISCOMs are expected to meet the demand. When the state came into existence, the contracted capacity was 7,778 MW and now has risen to 15,370 MW. 12,873 MW power projects are under execution and an 800 MW supercritical unit of KTPS was synchronised a month ago.
