The Thiruvananthapuram Road Development Company (TRDCL) is all set to plant 600 more trees on the city roads developed by it. With this, the sides of various city roads will sport more green cover in the coming days. Majority of the trees will be planted on the sides of the roads linking Pattom and Medical College, Peroorkada and Vazhayila and the roads at Pazhavangadi.
TRDCL said that it has so far planted around 2,200 trees on the roads developed by it. TRDCL is the concessionaire for the Thiruvananthapuram City Road Improvement Project (TCRIP), under which 42.6 km of city roads were developed.
Trees planted by TRDCL on the Pettah-Airport stretch have turned four years old now. As per its agreement with the Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB), the TRDCL has to maintain the roads developed by it for 15 years.
