West Bengal gets 421 rural roads under PMGSY

The Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has said that his department has finalised funds for 421 rural roads covering 1,887 km in West Bengal. The State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had written to the Prime Minister about norms being flouted by the Centre in allotment of funds to states.

Ramesh wrote to the CM Banerjee and said that road works in Bankura, Purulia and Pashchim Medinipur districts would be taken up under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) and an agreement would be signed between the PSUs undertaking the job and the Centre and the State government within the next 30 days.
