Over the negative traffic growth in major ports in the country, the Water Transport Workers Federation of India has expressed concern and said the situation is not a healthy trend at a time when the ports are adding additional capacities.
Due to ban on mining the major ports are not able to find the required cargo activities and the Federation demanded that the ports should review the capacity addition targets keeping in view the availability of cargo to be handled in future.
To address the negative growth the ports should explore the possibility of alternative cargoes, say experts.
