Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has said about 50 more airports, including the existing inactive ones, will be activated in the next three years.
As many as 32 airports across the country are currently not in operational condition. ´The Centre is trying to put all these NPAs into effective utilisation rather than investing afresh. Each airport would require at least Rs.100 crore for construction,´ Raju said. The civil aviation minister has also written to all states, asking them to reduce VAT tax on jet fuel.
