For the US companies operating in India the country’s infrastructure and congestion at Indian ports is a matter of concern, US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco J Sanchez said.Sanchez said that he will share the concerns of US companies in India about the port infrastructure.There is congestion at the port that inhibit growth, particularly in the auto sector.
A 12-member US delegation being headed by Sanchez is looking out for business in India in the areas of ports and logistics.
He figured that there will be 65 Indian cities having a population of more than one million by 2030, which will be presenting a good opportunity for US companies operating in infrastructure sectors like power.
While addressing a meeting organised by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, Sanchez said that the bilateral trade in goods between India and the US during last year was around $58 billion, higher from $49 billion in 2010.
