According to a company source, Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) has received environment clearance for its Rs 97 crore oil depot project at Jharsuguda in Odisha and work on it may begin soon.
The proposed depot, which would have a capacity of 50-kilo litre may be completed within two years. The petroleum products like petrol and diesel will be supplied to entire western Odisha belt from the proposed depot at Jharsuguda.
The existing small depots located at Sambalpur and Rourkela would be closed on safety grounds. Earlier, the oil marketing company had gone for closure of its Berhampur depot in south Odisha on the same grounds.
