Kanesan Veluppillai started his career with Credit Corporation (Malaysia) Berhad in 1984. From there, he moved on to lead the communications function at Master-Carriage Sdn Bhd as Group Communications Director. In 2000, Kanesan was appointed Group Director, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at DRB-HICOM Berhad, a leading Malaysian conglomerate with core businesses in the Automotive, Services and Property & Infrastructure sectors.

He joined RHB Capital Berhad in 2004 as Group Head, Communications where he was extensively involved in various corporate initiatives notably, RHB BankÂ’s branch rationalisation exercise, launch of the newly formed RHB Islamic Bank and merger of RHB Investment Bank. As a member of the Group Management Committee of RHB Capital, Kanesan played a key role in implementing strategic initiatives across the RHB Group of Companies.

As Senior Vice President, Global Marketing at Scomi Group Bhd, Kanesan successfully led the GroupÂ’s global marketing efforts in India and managed the tender exercise for the Mumbai monorail together with ScomiÂ’s consortium partner, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) India. In early 2009, Scomi was awarded the Mumbai project which is the countryÂ’s first monorail project. Today, as President of Scomi International, Kanesan heads the business division of the Group whose mandate is to pursue growth opportunities in emerging markets of Brazil, China, India, the Gulf States and Indonesia.
