The broadening work on the Orang Kalaktang Shergaon Rupa Tenga (OKSRT) Road and the Balipara Bomdila Tawang (BBT) roads are on in full swing. The OKSRT Road will be fully operational by next year, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has said.

BRO Commander Col Rahul Trivedi said this during a meeting held on January 5 at Bomdila in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh with the members of West Kameng Indigenous People’s Society (WKIPS), a press release said in Itanagar on January 6. The commander has, meanwhile, ordered that the OKSRT Road be opened to traffic from 5 pm to 8 am and from 12 noon to 1 pm daily, keeping in view the problems faced by commuters.

He further said the direct road from Rupa to Jigaon will be opened by next month, which will shorten road distance by about 17 km. No new cutting work will be undertaken on BBT road unless the old ones are fully blacktopped, he added.
