By spending Rs 20 crore, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) will undertake beautification work of six major roads of the city. Tenders for the project have been floated. The cost of the project would be borne by the State government.
The project is a part of initiative for beautifying the city through short term two-year projects under Chief Minister Urban Infrastructure Development scheme.
The civic body had prepared a detailed project report (DPR) of Rs 50 crore for such projects and recently the State government assigned approval to this proposal.
The roads which would get facelift include Subhash Marg, Jawahar Marg, RNT Marg, road from LIG to Pardeshipura, Yeshwant Niwas Road and MG Road. Out of the total budget to be received from the state government, Rs 20 crore would be spent by corporation on this venture. The beautification works would include construction of footpath, improvement of broken dividers, asphaltation works, painting and plantation.
