RINL to set up Rs 25 bn worth steel plant in Rajasthan

Rastriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) plans to set up a 2 million tonne (mn t) steel plant in Banera, Rajasthan with an investment of Rs 2,500 crore.

Recently, the state government gave approval for the project and it would issue a Letter of Intent (LoI) soon.

In February 2012, the state government is learnt to have sent a letter to the centre for setting up of the plant at Banera and approval was given by the centre in March, 2013.

The state Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot held a meeting with AP Chaudhary, Chairman of RINL on this project recently. State’s Industry Minister Rajendra Pareek, Chief Secretary CK Mathew, Joint Secretary in Ministry of Steel Lokesh Chandra and State Mining Secretary Sudhansh Pant were among other present in the meeting.

During the meeting, Gehlot asked RINL to take up works related to conservation of water under corporate-social responsibility for its plant in which the state government will provide all possible cooperation.

It is learnt that about 1,500 people will get direct employment, while 1,000 people will get indirect employment.
