MP govt takes steps to implement metro rail projects

Urban Development and Administration Minister of Madhya Pradesh Babulal Gaur informed media persons that the state government was taking steps to implement metro rail projects in Bhopal and Indore.

He said the state government reached the final stages in the process of inviting tenders to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the projects in the cities.

Gaur said while the Bhopal metro rail project may cost Rs 6,000 crore, that in Indore may cost Rs 7,500 crore.

He further informed that the length of the proposed metro rail service in Bhopal would be 28.5 km, while in Indore this distance would be 32.16 km.

Gaur said that a total of 24 overbridges would be made in Bhopal and pointed out that the one at the Jyoti Talkies square would be inaugurated today itself.

Meanwhile, he said the state government spent Rs 3,900 crore on development works including drinking water schemes and creation of infrastructure in urban areas.
