Steel Authority of India (SAIL) is taking steps to ensure that the modernisation work at its IISCO Steel Plant is completed at the earliest.

As part of this, CS Verma, Chairman of the firm assigned
separate jobs to different teams formed for this purpose. The company formed different teams and broke all critical jobs into small activities to be executed by each team.

The move is aimed at early commissioning of BOF & CCP Complex at IISCO Steel Plant at Burnpur. He performed the “assignment” exercise during his recent visit to review the modernization & expansion work.

The concept of ‘assignment’ is the result of weeks of interactions with the ISP top brass to find out issues that are important for timely completion of the project.

He expressed happiness that the expansion and modernization work at Burnpur has reached an advance stage and units like Coke Oven, Sinter Plant and Wire Rod Mill have already commenced production. He exhorted the concerned officials and employees for early stabilization of these units.

He also urged for early completion of the BOF-CCP unit to ensure integrated commissioning. Addressing a gathering of employees, Verma re-affirmed his confidence in the huge potential of ISP and underscored the key role this unit is slated to play in realizing SAIL’s
Vision 2020.
