In Kochi, the Vigilance Court has ordered a probe into the Manikkanamparambu road work allegedly constructed using the municipal fund to help a private builder. The probe may put Tripunithura Municipal Chairman R Venugopal in a fix. Fund misappropriation has also been alleged in the road work.

The Vigilance court order was on a petition filed by Sunil Kumar, a resident of Tripunithura. According to the plea, the road was constructed using the municipal fund to help a private party. As many as Rs 13 lakh was sourced to construct a 70-metre road which connects Layam Road and Government GirlÂ’s High School Road.

However, R Venugopal said he was ready to face any probe and if the allegations are proved, stringent action will be taken against those who resorted to the fraud.
