Owner of a commercial complex in Bangalore’s busy Majestic area, has reportedly agreed to part with 7,000 -square-foot land, for road widening near Shantala Silk Junction, near the city railway and Kempegowda Bus-station area. The narrow bend near the Shantala Silk Junction is resulting in traffic congestion at peak hours. Owner of the City Centaur Shopping Complex HM Nataraj said he had agreed to give the land so that traffic congestion on the road can be eased.
Nataraj urged the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities to give sub-registrar (SR) fixed rate for his property, given away for the road work. He said that the market rate in this area is much higher. Nataraj said the current market value per sq feet is around Rs 15,000 and SR rate will be around 50 per cent less than the market value. Now, it is up to the corporation to take a decision, he added.
If the situation demands money, the mayoral grant will be used to acquire the land and take up the project, Bangalore Mayor BS Sathyanarayana said. The mayor said that acquiring the property and widening the road will go a long way to ensure hassle free movement of traffic between parts of north and south Bangalore.
