To repair potholed and damaged roads in Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin cities, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has set a deadline of October 10 for its engineers and contractors concerned. GHMC has estimated the repairs to cost Rs 15 crore. It will take up all the main corridors and main city roads immediately for the repair works. Later, inner lanes and by-lanes will be taken up.
Members at the GHMC council meeting on September 23 claimed that 90 per cent of roads in the twin cities are in a bad state. GHMC commissioner MT Krishna Babu, however, stated that only one per cent of very stretch is damaged and not the entire road and asked council members to submit a list of bad roads that have not been identified by the GHMC.
