To expedite implementation of 143-km Angul-Chhendipada-Talcher common coal corridor taken up at an investment of Rs 8,000 crore, the Odisha government has announced the formation of an eight-member committee, headed by the State Principal Secretary (Industries) Parag Gupta.

According to a notification from Odisha Industries Department, the Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) is promoting the development of a common corridor in Angul-Talcher-Chhendipada belt which is the largest coal bearing area of the state. After careful consideration, the government has decided to constitute a committee for expediting implementation of the project, it said.

The total cost of the corridor has been worked out to be Rs 1,240 crore. Idco, which will implement the project, may avail an inter-corporate loan from State run miner Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) to meet land buying cost. A total of 6200 acres is to be acquired for the project.
