Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily has said that achieving energy self-sufficiency is an important step towards securing true ‘economic freedom.’
The Minister praised the efforts of ONGC, Oil India and other public sector energy companies in helping India head towards energy self-sufficiency. He was inaugurating the group gathering station of the Assam renewal project of Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) recently.
Moily hoped that India will become an energy self-sufficient country by 2030. At present, India is importing more than 70 per cent of its energy requirements.
