State seeks IAF’s help for road work in border areas

To construct roads bordering China, the Uttarakhand government has sought the Indian Air Force’s help to airlift construction material to the border areas. Uttarakhand shares 350 km international border with China. Reports say that China is strengthening its road network on the Indo-China border.

Amid these reports, the Uttarakhand government has taken initiative to strengthen the road network in the border area.

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and the Central Public Works Department are constructing 10 strategically important roads in the border areas.

The State government is to request IAF to send Mi-26 helicopters, which are huge and spacious to airlift the construction material to the road construction sites on the border.
