The Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has taken up work on the multimodal logistics park being built in Visakhapatnam at a cost of Rs 350 crore and the commercial operations in the first phase may begin by the end of March or April, according to R Dhananjayulu, the Group General Manager.
He said the logistics park was being built on 98 acre taken on lease from the Visakhapatnam Port Trust for three decades. CONCOR has sent a detailed project report (DPR) to the East Coast Railway (Ecor) for building the rail siding at the logistics park and approval is awaited. CONCOR is bearing the entire cost of the project out of internal accruals. CONCOR has also built a CFS near Patancheruvu in Hyderabad for domestic containers on a 16-acre plot. It is also planning to develop two inland container depots in Krishnapatnam and Karimnagar shortly..
