The Department of Telecom (DoT) is considering various options for a merger of the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL). The options include either de-listing MTNL and then merging it into BSNL, or listing the latter and finalising a merger swap ratio based on the valuation of the two telecom companies, with the first being the more likely option.
