The Maharashtra government has decided that no new tenders would be issued for road projects unless 90 per cent land acquisition is completed. PWD Minister Chandrakant Patil has said delays in completion of road projects, including construction of new roads and expansion of existing ones, result in cost escalations due to hurdles in land acquisition.

´We have decided that unless 90 per cent of land acquisition is not completed, no tenders for projects will be issued,´ he said. Meanwhile, at a meeting of road connectivity review, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asked the authorities to bring transparency in toll collection. Chief Minister said he had received complaints about irregularities like bogus receipts at the toll plazas.
