Major parts of Bihar have been reeling under acute power crisis, as two power plants – Kanti Bijli Utpadan Nigam Limited (unit-1) in Muzaffarpur and NTPC´s Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Plant (unit-5) in Bhagalpur – suspended operations due to technical reasons. Of the total 3,092 MW power to be allocated to Bihar from the Centre, the state has been receiving a meagre 2,617 MW of power.
