Chennai Port will strengthen its infrastructure to handle cars for coastal movement and exports, according to Cyril C George, Chairman, Chennai Port Trust.
Addressing mediapersons after handing over the wharfage charge refund of Rs.19.69 crore for 2015-16 to YK Koo, Managing Director, Hyundai Motors India, he said Hyundai Motors has consistently been the largest exporter of cars from India. The car manufacturer has charted out expansion plans which will further strengthen the relationship with the Chennai Port as a channel for its growing exports.
George said the port is also setting up a berth for handling vessels for coastal of movement of cars to domestic destinations.
