The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has cancelled the December 6 tender for the six-laning of the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway without assigning any reason, raising doubts about the future of the ambitious project, according to a news report.

Senior NHAI officials, however, are confident about the project, and have now proposed the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) instead of the earlier Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model.

“We now plan to implement the project in a different mode for which we will require government approval. We will float fresh tenders under HAM,” said an anonymous NHAI official quoted in the report.
