The contract to build a new airport on the island of Crete has been awarded to Ariadne Airport Group, a joint venture between IndiaÂ’s GMR Airports and Greek contractor GEK Terna, for Euro 850 million. Greece accepted the offer after the terms of the contract were finalised and EU and other authorities gave the necessary approvals. The construction of the site is set to start at the beginning of the next year.
