For the benefit of the urban poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved the construction of 626,488 more affordable houses. 11 states came up with fresh projects for the proposal. Of the given number, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh have been sanctioned with 234,879 and 140,559, respectively affordable houses. While Maharashtra has been sanctioned 22,265 houses, Tamil Nadu has sanctioned 20,794 houses. Madhya Pradesh with 74,631, Bihar 50,017, Chattisgarh with 30,371 and Gujarat with 29,158 houses are sanctioned.
