An underbridge at the Mid India Railway crossing near the district headquarters was inaugurated during a programme in Mandsaur.

The programme has been chaired by Mandsaur Neemuch MP Sudhir Gupta. Local MLA Yashpal Singh Sisodia district planning committee member and BJP district president Nanalal Atolia were also present.

This project was completed under the joint support of the Ministry of Railways and the Mandsaur local body at a Rs 7.5 crore investment.

The Western Railway Ratlam Division DRM Vineet Gupta, representative chief engineer Lokendra Jatav, municipality administrator, district collector Gautam Singh, district panchayat president Priyanka Goswami and others were also present.

The project was approved in 2006-07 to construct an underbridge in place of the Mid India Railway level crossing. Due to complications, it took three years to get an in-principle approval for the project. Later in 2015, Rs 4.4 crores were approved for the project.

Meanwhile, the citizens of the area launched agitations. The detailed project report (DPR) works started in 2016 after the survey, followed by drawing and land-testing by the technical experts of the railway and the municipality departments.

The bridge design has been changed due to technical reasons and the land-testing report, increasing the project cost to Rs 7.5 crore.
