The new route strengthens connectivity between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Copenhagen Airport—Scandinavia’s busiest hub—and is poised to boost trade, tourism and cultural exchange between India and Northern Europe.

IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share and fleet size, has commenced direct thrice-weekly flights between Mumbai and Copenhagen, marking its entry into Scandinavia and expanding its European footprint to four destinations. Operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on wet lease from Norse Atlantic Airways, the new service offers a dual-class configuration, including Economy and IndiGoStretch, IndiGo’s tailor-made offering for business class passengers.

Copenhagen becomes IndiGo’s 44th international and 138th overall destination, following recent long-haul launches to Manchester and Amsterdam. The new route strengthens connectivity between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and Copenhagen Airport—Scandinavia’s busiest hub—and is expected to boost trade, tourism and cultural exchange between India and Northern Europe.

“With the launch of our third long-haul route between Mumbai and Copenhagen, IndiGo unlocks a strategic gateway to the Nordic region as we continue to deepen our presence in Europe,” said Pieter Elbers, CEO, IndiGo. “This is a key step in our global growth journey ‘towards new heights, across new frontiers’.”

The route also supports the India-Denmark Green Strategic Partnership announced in 2020, with both governments welcoming the new connection as a symbol of growing bilateral ties. The partnership is a bilateral framework focused on sustainable development, clean energy, green technologies, and climate cooperation to advance low-carbon growth and innovation.

With these flights, Indian travellers gain seamless access to onward destinations across the Nordics, while Scandinavian flyers can tap into IndiGo’s domestic network of over 90 cities.

The Mumbai-Copenhagen service operates thrice-weekly, departing Mumbai at 0435 hrs and arriving in Copenhagen at 1005 hrs. Return flights depart Copenhagen at 1230 hrs and arrive in Mumbai at 0030 hrs the following day. All timings are local and subject to operational variation.
