World Bank agreed to lend $320-million for improvement and development of some of the roads in Assam.
The state government, central government and the multilateral lending agency signed an agreement to this effect recently.
The project will support improvement of priority sections of secondary roads, implementation of Assam’s ‘Road Sector Modernisation Programme’ and development of a multi-sector road safety strategy. The project will be implemented over a period of six years.
