In Kochi the narrow Lourdes Hospital Road which runs from Pachalam Junction to Don Bosco School, Vaduthala is all set to become the new traffic bottleneck in the city when work on Kochi Metro begins in right earnest. The Regional Transport Authority's (RTA) plan to divert vehicles through this road has met with stiff resistance from residents of Pachalam and Vaduthala region.

To sell 74 per cent stake in GMR Jadcherla Expressways, GMR Highways has signed an agreement with Macquarie SBI Infrastructure Investments Pte and SBI Macquarie Infrastructure Trust. This GMR Group operates the GJEL Farukhnagar-Jadcherla highway in Andhra Pradesh, under a concession agreement signed with NHAI.

Kochi gives ambitious ring road project a push
The Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) will submit the alignment of the proposed 64-km ring road connecting Chatiyath and Panangad before the Ports Department for approval. Since about 10.5 km stretch of the road between Chatiyath and Varapuzha passes through coastal areas, GCDA would require the approval from the Ports Department.
