Flood-hit Uttarakhand to get Rs 18,791 cr for roads
In Uttarakhand, the State Planning Commission has proposed 99 km of all-weather roads with as many as 14 tunnels that would reduce distance and save precious time for travelers. In the state, the Himalayas are bleeding after the last June flash floods, which killed many and washed away properties.
Widening of Bannerghatta road along metro line work
In Bangalore, the Bannerghatta Road-widening project should be taken up in coordination with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL), residents in the area have suggested. BMRCL has also proposed a line on the same road.
Rs 20-cr road projects launched in Rajkot
Road projects worth Rs 20 crore have been launched by the Rajkot Urban Development Authority (RUDA) on October 26. It also launched other development works worth Rs 5 crore. The Rajasthan Minister of State for Agriculture Govind Patel simultaneously laid the foundations for eight projects to strengthen and widen roads in villages on the outskirts of Rajkot city.
UP’s plea for Rs 2,500 cr highways makeover aid
For maintenance and improvement of its State highways, the Uttar Pradesh government has sought Rs 2,500 crore as assistance from the Centre. The State government has asked Union Road Transport and Highways Ministry to release the required funds immediately.

Sohna Road in Gurgaon needs foot over-bridges
In Gurgaon, the Sohna Road has now turned into accident-prone one. Number of speeding vehicles on the road have gone up and lack of foot overbridges and subways is seen as the main reason for the accidents. Absence of foot over-bridges on the road is endangering the lives of pedestrians who cross the busy road.
Process begins to widen stretch on Kalka-Shimla NH
In Himachal Pradesh, process to acquire the required land to widen the 25 km Solan-Waknaghat stretch on Kalka-Shimla National Highway into four lanes has begun. The authorities concerned said that the land owners on either sides of the highway have been asked to submit the estimated cost of their land to be acquired for the four-laning.
Work on Mumbai’s Kherwadi flyover to take 18 months
In Mumbai, construction work on the much needed Kherwadi flyover on Western Express Highway (WEH) is all set to begin, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has announced. The construction on the flyover is to take at least 18 months.
