The Nagaland government has taken initiative to improve roads in Dimapur, the State's commercial hub. The State PWD (R&B) personnel embarked on improvement and reconstruction of roads as per the directive of Minister for Roads & Bridges Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu along the road stretch from Tragopan police point to City Tower and from City Tower to DC Court, Dimapur.

Kanpur residents commute on dusty, potholed roads
Residents of Kanpur are facing hardships due to the dilapidated condition of roads in the city. Especially dug up roads are bothering them a lot. One of the many unlevelled and the potholed stretches in the city is Kalpi road between Zarib Chowki and Fazalganj. The entire stretch of nearly 1.5 km is unlevelled ever since it was dug up for laying of sewage pipes under JNNURM scheme.
No cancellation of toll on Jaipur h’way stretch: NHAI
Proposal to suspend toll on the Gurgaon-Jaipur stretch of NH-8 till the completion of widening of the highway was turned down by the board of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on October 22.
Maha gets nod for Rs 354 cr worth road works
The Union government has approved proposals for roads worth Rs 354 crore in Maharashtra to improve its infrastructure works. The road works will be funded under the Centre's flagship Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Arunachal gets Rs 819 cr worth road projects
To improve road connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh, the Union government has approved a network of roads and bridges at a cost of Rs 819 crore. The Union Rural Development Ministry's decision in this regard comes just ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Beijing and it emphasises the strategic importance of the bordering state over parts of which China lays claim.
GHMC faces criticism for not widening city roads
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been severely criticised by the MIM floor leader in State Assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi on October 21 for not taking up road widening works in the city on priority basis. He pointed out that land rates in the city have increased four times since its proposal of road widening.
Mumbai civic body’s waste expenditure on road repairs
A recent audit of the Comptroller of Auditor General in Mumbai has revealed that the Mumbai civic body BMC wasted Rs 8.44 crore of taxpayers' money by hiring a contractor to repair a stretch of SV Road that could have been done for free. The company that originally constructed the 2.5-km stretch in Borivali in 2007 was bound by the contract to fix road defects for no extra cost till December 2012.
AMC proposal to turn a road into concrete one
In Ahmedabad, a 3.25 km-long road stretch, from Pakwaan junction via SG Road, Sindhu Bhavan to Sardar Patel Ring Road, is going to be developed into concrete road. For this the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has put forth a proposal worth Rs 38.89 crore.
Maoists torch machines at road work site in Odisha
Two JCB machines, two tractors and a motorcycle were torched by by suspected CPI maoists at the construction site of PMGSY road at Miangpadar village, about 30 km from Bhawanipatna in Odisha on October 20. Police seized 10 leaflets and three posters of the Bansadhara, Ghumsura and Nagabali divisions of the CPI(Maoist) from the spot.
Army assusred for better road link to Bumla post
Roads and telecommunication facilities at Bumla, the last Army post in Tawang district of Arunachal Prdesh, bordering China located at 17,000 feet, needed to be improved. The State Chief Minister Nabam Tuki has assured the Indian Army in the area to take up the matter with the Union government and press for the facilities.
