AK Upadhyay, Secretary, Ministry of Roads, Transport & Highways in his inaugural address at the INFRASTRUCTURE TODAY LEADERSHIP SUMMIT, announced that RFQs for 4000 km of road contracts would be floated anytime soon for which details would be put up on their website www.NHAI.org There has been some evoution in terms of acceptance of the financials across multiple projects for pre-qualification purposes. He further stated that the road sector would be the 'centre piece' of infrastructure sector. He clarificed that government was looking forward to implementing 20 to 30 projects on cash funded basis from public funding and not under PPP. “The North East zone will see an implementation of 10,000km under public funding,” he added. The LEADERSHIP SUMMIT had addresses by Dr Pronab Sen, Principal Advisor, Planning Commission,Raghav Chandra, Jt Secretary Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Sumit Banerjee, Vice Chirman, Reliance Cement, Vinayak Deshpande, MD, Tata Projects, SK Goel, MD, IIFCL, SN Baheti, CEO & MD, IDF, IDBI Bank and others.
