A global tender is going to be invited by the Goa Government for its new airport project at Mopa in the northern part of the state. The State Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that the new airport will be developed on a public private partnership basis.
Parrikar was in Kolkata to attend PanIIT — a global conference of IIT alumni on December 8.
The StateÂ’s contribution will be restricted to providing land for the project, Parrikar said. The airport will come up at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore and is likely to be operational in another four yearsÂ’ time (2016).
The Chief Minister told the media that the State is to float the tenders in March after obtaining the necessary environmental clearances.
