The Haryana government on August 6 announced an affordable housing scheme in collaboration with private firms to provide 1.25 lakh housing units for lower and lower-middle class population in the state. Under the scheme, the government will issue licences to private players for group housing projects with a few conditions.
Private builders would be required to furnish bank guarantee before the project was allotted to them.
The bank guarantee would be 15 per cent of the total realisation from the project for areas falling in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Panchkula, Panchkula Extension and Pinjore-Kalka and 10 per cent for rest of the towns.
The State Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that his government has fixed the size and rates for the flats apart from fixing deadline to finish such units. The housing projects would be planned in plots ranging from five acres to 10 acres. Licence for such projects would be given on first-come-first-served basis, while flats would be given through draw of lots, the Chief Minister said.
Builders taking up the State housing projects, would be exempted from licence fees and infrastructure development charges. They would also be given extra floor area ration (FAR), he CM said. The FAR in projects under the new policy would be 225 against 175 permitted in normal group housing projects while ground coverage would be 50 per cent against 35 per cent allowed in normal group housing projects.
