On the 12th February 2015, at the reception being held by the Port of Antwerp that evening, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust and APEC Antwerp/Flanders Training Center, Antwerp Port Authority, signed an MoU to establish the ´JNPT-APEC Port Training Centre´ in JN Port area at Navi Mumbai. The Centre is to be an international class training institute offering training opportunities to officers from ports in India and neighbouring countries.
This new venture is the initiative of the Hon´ble Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Union Minister for Shipping, promoted during his visit to Antwerp a few months back. APEC Antwerp/Flanders Training Centre under the Antwerp Port Authority is a world renowned centre of excellence for training in all aspects of port operations and management since over 30 years. With this MoU, APEC brings in their experience and expertise to India.
The new Centre commences its operations with an interactive discussion on 12th February morning on ´Today´s management challenges for seaports´ with the team from Antwerp led by the Chairman, Antwerp Port Authority, followed by a 6-day residential seminar from 23rd February on ´Port Managemen´ for senior officers from Indian major ports and private ports and terminals.
