The Lucknow-Agra Expressway is registering an impressive traffic count everyday as it cuts down the travel time between the two cities to less than four hours.
Just a week since the expressway opened for the public, the 24-hour traffic count (to and fro), was touching 1,000 vehicles, which, by traffic norms, was fairly impressive. As of now, only passengers with small cars and SUVs were using it but once big vehicles like trucks and buses also start plying, the road would provide connectivity to farms and small traders of the ten districts from Lucknow to Agra.
Finishing touches were being given to plantation drives and signage and would be completed soon but ambulance and police patrol cars had already been deployed. The quality of the road had been tested by UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who had conducted a water glass test on a speeding vehicle and the water had not spilled out while the vehicle ran at over 100 km/h.
