Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) India Limited has proposed to enhance power generation at its Neyveli complex by 2,640 MW, according to Chairman and Managing Director Sarat Kumar Acharya.
Acharya said the company’s project to increase lignite-based power generation by 1,320 MW (two units of 660 MW) has reached advanced stages of completion. He said the company has also proposed to add another 1,320 MW (two units of 660 MW) in the second phase at Neyveli.
The CMD said that the company has awarded contracts for enhancing coal-based power generation by another 1,980 MW through its joint venture Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL) at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh and for enhancing lignite-based power generation by another 500 MW through the Barsingsar expansion and Bithnok greenfield project in Rajasthan.
