So far in 2013-14, four cruise vessels called at the New Mangalore Port.
These include two luxury cruise vessels – ‘mv Legend of the SeasÂ’ and ‘mv Pacific PrincessÂ’. While the vessel ‘mv Legend of the SeasÂ’ came from Kochi, the vessel, ‘m.v. Pacific PrincessÂ’, came from Phuket in Thailand.
While ‘mv Legend of the Seas’ carried 1,707 passengers and 795 crewmembers, the number of passengers and crew members in the other vessel were 585 and 378 respectively.
Passengers representing 40 nations were part of ‘mv Legend of the Seas’, and a majority of them were from the US, Canada and the UK.
Around 2,000 passengers and crew members from these ships opted for ground tour arranged by the local tour operators.
The captains and passengers of the vessels were welcomed by P Tamilvanan, Chairman of NMPT along with other port officials.
The port officials informed the passengers about the facilities available at the cruise lounge, security arrangements and emigration facility at the port.
