Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on July 16 sanctioned Rs 50 crore for development of the oldest Jharsuguda Airport in the state. The Odisha government has decided to provide the Rs 50 crore to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for undertaking the first phase of construction of the strategic air-strip, which had been laid by the British. The first phase of development of the air port would be taken up at Rs 175 crore.
On completion, the air port would be able to provide facilities for landing of AB-321 type of aeroplane. The development of the air port requires around 300 acres of land, sources said.
