Upon requesting the Airports Authority of India (AAI) by the MIHAN India Limited to recarpet the runway of Nagpur’s Dr BabasahebAmbedkar International Airport, the AAI is in the process and has completed the tender process for allotting the work for re-carpeting the runway. Re-carpeting work on the runway is to begin after the monsoons.
Work order for the work was issued on June 21 in Delhi. MIHAN India Limited (MIL) is responsible for the airport operations.
Recarpeting of the runway has been necessitated as the earlier recarpeting of apron area, which was done by MIL, was not to AAI’s satisfaction and that is why, this time, they decided to ask AAI to do the work. In addition to recarpeting of runway, the grading of its adjoining side strip would also be done, say media reports.
