Steel Authority of India (SAIL)witnessed 5.1 percent growth in total sales and 1.8 percent growth in the production of saleable steel during October-December 2012 compared to the year-ago period.
The company informed that its techno-economic parameters registered significant improvements during Oct-Dec 2012 compared to the year-ago period owing to a renewed thrust on operational improvements. The company’s Blast Furnace productivity rose 3.9 percent, energy consumption fell 2.1 percent and coke rate declined 1.2 percent.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the state-run steel maker plans to rope in an agency for steel service centre for TMT bars or coils at Ghaziabad and Mumbai region.
