Aviation sector to grow significantly with more capacity building
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) launched the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN in October 2016, to promote regional air connectivity in the country including the North-Eastern region and creating additional infrastructure by revival of un-served and under-served airports/airstrips.
The Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Pusapati Raju said his ministry is focusing on improving air connectivity in the country. The ministry has cleared six proposals allowing them to launch airlines after getting the requisite approvals.
To increase air connectivity to tier-II and tier-III cities in the country, the Union Government has decided to set up 50 new low-cost airports this year and 50 next year. The government is striving to achieve this within the deadline set up by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
