Government to auction 8 coal blocks to steel and cement companies
The government said it will auction eight coal blocks with 1,143 million tonnes of reserves to steel and cement firms. The last date for submission of bids will be December 31, coal secretary Anil Swarup said

Coal auction for commercial mining likely this fiscal
The government said it is likely to auction coal blocks for commercial mining this financial year and is working out details for the same.
We will reach the target of 1 billion tonne per annum by 2020
It will be a game changer in the sense of providing a platform for transparent auctions of coal blocks. These blocks were earlier allocated in such a manner that the Supreme Court and other agencies had concerns over its allocations, leading to its cancellation.
Coal auction proceeds to cross Rs.2 lakh crore
Proceeds from the ongoing coal block auctions are likely to cross Rs 2 lakh crore, surpassing CAG´s estimate of Rs 1.86 lakh crore loss on account of the allocation of blocks without auction during the UPA regime.
Rail projects to transport coal
The Union Coal Ministry will uplift railway infrastructure in Talcher and Ib Valley for coal transportation in order to double production of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in the next five years.
