Fairfax buys 33 per cent in Bengaluru Airport
Prem Watsa-backed Fairfax has bought a 33 per cent stake in Bangalore International Airport for Rs.2,149 crore from GVK Power and Infrastructure, which is selling assets to pare debt. Canadian billionaire Watsa controls travel operator Thomas Cook and will become the largest shareholder in BIAL, India's first newly built PPP international airport.
Blore airport to get satellite navigation
A satellite-based navigation system is ready at Bangalore International Airport to ensure there are no delays in landing, long queues of aircraft to land or take off, delays in take-off and extended hovering. Hence passengers from Bangalore airport will get to depart and arrive on time on almost every flight with the functioning of the satellite-based navigation system.
Bangalore airport may become expensive airport
The Karanataka government has refused the appeal of the Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) to increase the StateÂ’s equity in the airport by Rs 150 crore and suggested the BIAL to use the excess land given by it (the State government) to raise money for expansion rather than seeking incrÂeased equity of the State.
NHAI to be asked to pace up work on elevated road to BIA
The Karnataka government is to bring pressure on the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to complete the signal free elevated road to Bangalore International Airport (BIA) at the earliest. Members in the State Legislature on June 11 raised a hue and cry over the inordinate delay in completing the elevated stretch on the 22-kilometre BIA Road.
K'taka spends Rs 10,000 cr in aero
The Karnataka state government is mulling to attract investment worth Rs 10,000 crore in the aerospace sector by the end of next year, as it sees Bangalore emerging as a major aerospace hub.
