Kozhikode is set to inaugurate its new container reach stack and launch the MT Malabar tug. The Beypore port authorities are targeting to handle 250 containers per month with the opening of the new reach stack. The container reach stack has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore, while MT Malabar Tug incurred a cost of Rs 6 crore.

Kerala sanctions Rs 12 cr for crane in Beypore port
For the Beypore port, the Kerala government has sanctioned Rs 12 crore to procure a container handling crane of 40 tonne capacity, the State Minister for Ports K Babu has said.

For the overall development of Vizhinjam port, the Kerala government has sanctioned Rs 1 crore and Rs 3.80 crore for Beypore Port. In Vizhinjam port, Rs 50 lakh each will be used to construct channel marketing buoys and fire fighting system respectively.
Luggage scanner to function soon at Beypore port
In Kozhikode's Beypore Port security would further be strengthened with the operation of the luggage scanner by mid-September. The Department of Ports had bought the scanner, along with several other surveillance instruments.
